About Us

Founded as Woodley Road Methodist Church, our history began on July 22, 1951, when we had our first service on the Huntingdon College campus. After a brief stay across the street from the campus, Whitfield United Methodist Church moved to its permanent home in southeast Montgomery in 1963. Over the years, Whitfield UMC has been home to many wonderful members and pastors.

Today, Whitfield UMC is a multi-generational church seeking to love God with all we are while also loving our neighbor as ourselves. More than being only a collection of individuals that meet a couple of times per week, we desire to be a community of people deeply unified in our love for Jesus. We believe that he is deserving of our love and praise, that he is the answer to the pain of the world, and that his love is available to all. We desire to be an example of that.

Along with our traditional Sunday morning service (on-line through Zoom), opportunities to connect with our church community are available through bi-weekly Wednesday night on-line gatherings which include devotionals or Bible studies.

Get Involved Today!

At Whitfield United Methodist Church, we are setting our hearts to live for God with everything we have by loving him wholeheartedly, loving others as we desire ourselves to be loved, and making disciples who set their lives to do the same.
